A message from our President 

''Try your hand at Bowling"                                                                             

Its true what they say, don't knock it   until you've tried it!   Well, I did just that, I tried it!

Firstly, bowling outside, on grass, and loved it from the first introduction. Then I tried indoors, loved that too. I could have been drawn in by the friendliness of the coaches and club members, the camaraderie of the other 'newbies', or actually learning a new sport that didn't involve lycra and running around. 

Whatever happened that first trial session, the feeling has stayed with me and now I'm proud to impart to others the joy of bowling.

This sport isn't just for those retirees  with time on their hands, or elderlies who can't swing that golf club or tennis racket like they used to.  It encompasses all age groups and capabilities. I am always so impressed when I see teenagers, young working folk, middle aged players with families, people from all walks of life, finding time to play this sport, mixing with all and enjoying the process.  
         
With this sport you can make of it what you will, without pressure, play as often or as little, competitively or not.

What also comes with the bowling package, if you want it, are new friends, social activities, laughter and a way of keeping fit!

A message from our Chair

Maybe I am biased, but if you are considering taking up bowls and live in East Devon I would thoroughly recommend coming along to our club.

We have a well deserved reputation for being a friendly, welcoming club offering excellent facilities including one of the best playing surfaces in Devon. We pride ourselves on being inclusive and responsive to the needs of our members and visitors alike. Our team of qualified coaches are on hand to introduce you to the sport and work with you to improve your game.

Bowls is unique in being a sport that people of all ages can play. Age is no barrier to taking up the game.

My wife and I were complete novices when we joined Ottery St Mary Bowling Club 5 years ago and now we both represent the club in league matches against other clubs and we actively participate in the many and varied social activities. We have not for a moment regretted our decision to join and I am confident that, should you follow our lead, you will feel the same.
